The General Director of the State Police, Skënder Hita, is conducting a 'catharsis' within the police leadership, as he continues to build his new management team. He has requested the resignations of several current district directors. So far, two career officers have officially resigned: the director of Lezhë, Islor Islami, and the director of Kukës, Loard Sallaku. Further resignations from police directors in other districts are expected to follow. Currently, the most talked-about potential resignations are those of the directors in Berat and Dibër, but other districts are not excluded. With the departure of the current directors, Hita is expected to appoint trusted individuals to form the team that will lead the State Police. The first to receive this trust is Erjon Ahmeti, who has been appointed head of the Fier Police. Initially, the changes began with the appointment of new deputy directors in several districts.
