Renowned Romanian coach Mircea Lucescu faced life-threatening moments just hours before being discharged from the University Hospital of Bucharest, where he had been admitted following an illness last Sunday.
The 80-year-old suffered a heart attack that seriously endangered his life, but the swift intervention of doctors prevented further damage. To save the coach, three resuscitation procedures were necessary. Lucescu, who has coached several Italian clubs, including Inter in the 1990s, is currently in the emergency department of the Bucharest hospital, where further tests are being conducted.
Lucescu experienced a second heart attack but was successfully kept alive once again. The news of his condition comes just hours after it was announced that Romania parted ways with Lucescu following the failure to qualify for the upcoming World Cup.
