The tragic case of Sibel Abedini's death remains one of the most sensitive, with developments that have deepened the mystery surrounding it.
Initially, the Tirana Court imposed the security measure "arrest in prison" on Altin Çoku, suspected of distributing an intimate photo of the victim. According to the Prosecution, this action had caused the victim a severe psychological and emotional state, influencing the extreme act.
Although Çoku denied the accusations, claiming the publication was made by another person, the evidence managed, including his phone and the victim's messages requesting the deletion of the image, convinced the court to keep him in prison until the end of the investigation.
The 27-year-old lost her life after jumping from the fourth floor of an apartment building in Kamëz. She was the mother of a 2-year-old daughter and had gone through a difficult personal period, having returned to her family after marital problems.
Meanwhile, the victim's family has contested the official version, claiming she did not take her own life but was the victim of a crime. According to them, psychological pressure, moral violence, and a continuous form of persecution led to this tragedy, directing accusations at Çoku and demanding full justice.
The case took another turn after the court's final decision, which sentenced Altin Çoku to 6 years in prison for the criminal act of "causing suicide," holding him responsible for the fatal consequences following the publication of the intimate material.
Recently, the victim's sister, Renata Abedini, in a live broadcast on the show "Me Zemër të Hapur" on News24, shared further details regarding the circumstances of the event.
"We were at home, me, my mother, sister, and niece. My mother was asleep, my sister and I were not. I was on the phone while Sibel was smoking, upset. I asked her what was wrong, she said it would be better if she died. She took a cigarette and went out to smoke it in the corridor but was taking too long. My brother came and asked me where my sister was since he hadn't seen her in the corridor. When we went out, we saw her body below, many people had gathered there. That photo was a montage, my sister was weak, not healthy. Her hair was also black, not like in the photo. That person in the photo is not Sibel. When we found her, she was alive, breathing, covered in blood, couldn't speak but only cried from the pain she was in," she said.
