Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hosted his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, in Istanbul for talks on energy and navigation security, as well as efforts to end the war with Russia. The visit comes a day after Erdogan spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who accused Kyiv of attempting to sabotage the gas pipeline between Russia and Turkey that supplies several European countries. Erdogan "emphasized the importance Turkey attaches to navigation security in the Black Sea and the essential nature of energy supply security." The two leaders discussed relations between the countries, "peace efforts in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and regional and international developments." Among other things, Zelensky said they had discussed "steps to implement joint projects in gas infrastructure development." Meanwhile, Kyiv has called for a ceasefire during the Orthodox Easter holidays, which would include a halt to attacks on energy infrastructure. Russia said it had not seen any "clearly formulated" proposal from Kyiv.
