An Albanian prisoner suffering isolation in Nigritas Prison in Greece has denounced the scandalous conditions in the penitentiary facilities, from unsuitable cells like cages, to the expensive food traded within the premises and the lack of personnel treatment.

In a communication with the Greek media "Zougla" (Jungle), the inmate Simos Prelas (Sajmir Zefi), who is serving his sentence in prison, speaks about the unacceptable living conditions in Nigritas Prison.

According to his complaint, cells intended for three people are filled with up to double the number of inmates, making living conditions almost impossible, while due to the reduced budget, the services that should be provided to prisoners, including social services, do not function properly.

Furthermore, he complains that the prison supermarket stocks imported products of questionable quality, which are extremely expensive, thus depriving prisoners of the opportunity to purchase them, reports the mentioned media.

Finally, the prisoner declares that the prison houses about 1,000 people, double the planned number, and despite the efforts of the Prison Director, the Correctional Institution is understaffed, as there are only 35 correctional officers.
