Kreshnik Mujeci and his wife lost their lives today following an assassination in Balldre, Lezhë. Their "Audi Q7" vehicle was sprayed with bullets, leaving them dead at the scene. The perpetrators are suspected to have acted in an organized manner using two vehicles and fled the scene in two vehicles.
According to preliminary data, Kreshnik Mujeci and his cousin Jozef Mujeci had been investigated for a serious incident that occurred in 2016, the murder of Genc Mhillaj. The First Instance Court in Shkodër acquitted them on November 27, 2018.
Subsequently, the Court of Appeals in Shkodër on November 6, 2019, rejected the Prosecutor's Office's appeal, upholding the first-instance decision. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on October 31, 2024, decided to return the case for retrial.
Police and the investigative team are at the scene and are working to fully clarify the assassination, identify the perpetrators, and determine possible motives.
