New developments have emerged regarding the death of the 19-year-old Albanian girl Myrto in Kefalonia, as one of the arrested, a 26-year-old former weightlifter, appeared in court to request release. According to information, the young man claims that he was the one who carried the unconscious girl out of the apartment and that, together with a 23-year-old, they notified emergency services. However, the investigations of the Greek Police indicate a more serious version of the events.

Initially, the three arrested were charged with exposure and violation of drug laws, but later the charges were escalated to intentional homicide through omission, according to the relevant provisions of the Greek Penal Code. This change gives the case much greater legal weight, while the other two suspects are also expected to give their testimonies. The incident occurred in Argostoli, where the 19-year-old was found unconscious in a central square in the early hours of Tuesday morning. She was transported to the island's hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. According to the indictment, the three young men, aged 26, 23, and 22, are suspected of being with the victim in a hotel room and not providing help when she lost consciousness, later abandoning her at the location where she was found.

Security camera footage is considered key to the investigation, as it shows the 26-year-old carrying the unconscious girl out of the hotel and leaving her outside. Meanwhile, there are also indications that the suspects may have attempted to hide evidence, including cleaning the room and disposing of the victim's phone, which was later found abandoned. According to preliminary forensic examinations, the cause of death is linked to cardiac arrest following pulmonary edema, while the results of toxicological analyses are expected to shed more light on the circumstances. At the same time, family and friends bid their final farewell to the 19-year-old in the city's cathedral, amid deep sorrow. Her father, in a shocking statement, spoke of the tragic loss and raised suspicions about the involvement of an organized criminal network, demanding justice and respect for his daughter's memory.

"It is an organized group, which may have had a leader, may have had a deputy, may have had assistants, may have had actors, I don't know what it may have had. Spare me, do not allow them to insult my child. Today I have both the wedding and the funeral of my daughter. I dressed her as a bride and went to speak to her and said, 'My child, here I am. I had promised to accompany you. Instead of taking you to your loved one, I am taking you to Charon. You have destroyed me, my daughter!'" The investigations continue, as authorities are examining every piece of evidence to fully clarify this serious incident.
