Rexhep Qosja's son, Valjet Qosja, has published the will written by the distinguished academic 10 years ago, in which he requests that his final journey be without ceremony.
HE WHO CARED FOR MY LIFE AND FROM WHOM I ASK TO CARE FOR MY BURIAL AS WELL Since I have lived believing in scientific thought, spiritual elevation, and social progress, which it makes possible, I wish to be buried without religious ritual. Since I have lived and thought, for the most part, expressing critical views toward rulers and their powers, I wish to be buried without any official presence. I want only my family to carry out my burial. Since I have taken care to live simply, I wish to be buried just as simply: without speeches, without media, without flowers, near the grave of my wife Shpresa. Since I have dedicated my life, intellectual creativity, and political activity to the freedom, unity, and democratic well-being of the Albanian people, I can say that I owe nothing to either state Albania or Kosovo, to their present and future. If Kosovo owes me anything โ this can be said by future historians of Albanian literature, culture, and political thought. Since I grew up, lived, and worked in political and social conditions that, even after Kosovo's liberation and the creation of its state, were very harsh, I cannot say that my expressed disagreements were always free from some judgments and assessments harsher than necessary. Nevertheless, I await burial convinced that I have lived, created, and acted by doing good, preaching goodness, and spreading humanity. I wrote these thoughts while conscious and clear-minded.
