A synthetic drug disguised as candies has been uncovered by police in Durrës, following an investigation that led to the discovery of a distribution network near high schools. According to the investigation, the narcotic substance was prepared in a laboratory in Tirana and distributed in the coastal city, masked as candies to avoid authorities' attention and attract young people. The police operation codenamed "Bitter Taste" resulted in the arrest of two brothers, Ledio Lemeti and Rubin Lemeti, aged 20 and 25 respectively, originally from Kavajë and residing in the capital. Another 20-year-old accomplice has been declared wanted. According to police, the young men had set up a proper laboratory for processing narcotic substances, producing synthetic drugs in gelatin form. During the search of their residence, quantities of drugs in candy form, cannabis, about 550 grams of synthetic material ready for production, as well as equipment such as electronic scales, plastic molds, and various chemical components were seized. In total, police blocked 50 packages of synthetic drugs weighing about 650 grams. Authorities suspect that the production and distribution network may be wider, while investigations continue to identify other accomplices involved in this criminal activity.
