Only five months after declaring Florian Binaj as the opposition-supported candidate for the local elections in Tirana, Sali Berisha has withdrawn.

On October 6 of last year, when November 9 was initially set as the date for the Tirana elections, which were later overturned by the Constitutional Court, Sali Berisha was confident that Florian Binaj would win the municipality against Ogerta Manastirliu.

This Saturday, at a press conference, Berisha openly stated that the opposition would decide on its candidacy, not an independent candidate.

The Democratic Party leader said preparations have begun and candidates will be presented many months ahead of the 2027 local elections.

"The opposition has started work and will soon complete the process of analysis and selection within the party. While thinking is underway, work is also being done for the local elections.

So it won't be two months before, I assure you it will be much earlier than the last elections, and we will do everything for the best candidacies," said Berisha.

"We will offer citizens the most excellent candidacy," Berisha added.
