The head of the Forum for Political Dialogue, Ermal Hasimja, stated that an agreement has been reached on the Electoral Code to ensure greater representation for smaller parties.
Speaking tonight on 'Top Story,' Hasimja said this is an opportunity to reduce the monopoly of the two major political parties, which he called "dinosaurs."
"We have been working for about a month and a half. We managed to reach an agreement on the issue of the Electoral Code. The demand of the small parties has been to change the Code. We ourselves proposed it because the influx of new parties reduces the monopoly of the two big 'dinosaurs' of Albanian politics.
Small parties have demanded national proportionality. We have had the agreement of the PD on this issue. The issue of a 140-seat Parliament is also important. On the issue of 140, the two main forces are clashing. There is also the issue of pre-election coalitions, which offers new opportunities for representation. And the issue of open lists. It is in the interest of Albanian citizens for better representation," Hasimja said.
