Prime Minister Edi Rama held a discussion with pensioners of Unit No. 2 regarding economic growth and social policies, as well as pension reform with annual bonuses and increases that will continue by category to be quintupled by 2030. During his speech, the head of the government promised changes in the pension scheme, adding that the desire to increase pensions has been longstanding, but due to the economy, it was impossible. Rama stated that from January 2027, there will be pension increases again, and so on until 2030. "We must not focus only on pensions, as I believe we are in another phase. We have encountered many problems because we could not increase pensions. While wages began to rise, investments were aligned, again when it came to pensions, we found it impossible, as we faced this stress from the pensioners, who realistically have it harder than others. The only thing we have done for years has been indexing pensions, but this is not an increase in the full sense of the word. What I have repeated in all cases is that the truth has hindered us in increasing pensions because the economy did not support us. Just as we had thought, the moment came when the economy enabled us. From January of next year, you will receive higher pensions. Each year you will receive pension increases. Meanwhile, we have discussed other changes we will make in the pension scheme, starting with creating another space for all those who need to save more. Even pensioners want to work, and there is space there too. We have also discussed support for the disabled, who want to be treated equally. We will correct it. The essence of what I am saying is the economy. It is the significant change in our economy that gives us the opportunity. The good news today is that we have these opportunities. We have moved to another level," expressed Rama.
