The majority of citizens in Spain consider U.S. President Donald Trump to be the greatest threat to global peace, even more so than Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to a survey conducted by the company 40dB for El Paรญs and Cadena SER, 81% of respondents view Trump as a threat to world peace. In comparison, 79% hold the same view of Putin and 71% of Netanyahu.
On the list of other global leaders, the perception of threat is lower: 63% for Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, 62% for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and 49% for Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The survey also reveals a strong climate of uncertainty about the future: about 70% of Spaniards express pessimism. Nearly half believe the world will become more violent, authoritarian, and unequal, while others see a potential world war and the weakening of democracy in the U.S. and the European Union as possible.
Regarding defense policies, public opinion in Spain remains divided: 46.3% support increasing military spending, while 45.3% are against it, with the greatest support coming from right-wing voters.
However, despite differences, there is broad consensus on strategic issues: the majority of citizens support the country's stance in NATO, the continuation of military aid to Ukraine, seeking solutions through dialogue in Venezuela, and increasing international pressure for a ceasefire in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
