By the end of this month, tolls are expected to be implemented at the Llogara Tunnel, ending the free passage period. Work on installing the payment system has entered its final phase, with the final tests for the full operation of the equipment being conducted today. Security cameras, electronic control systems, and supporting infrastructure are being verified to ensure a smooth process when tolling begins.

The toll will start at 100 lekë for motorcycles and go up to a maximum of 5,000 lekë for heavy-tonnage vehicles. For cars, the passage fee will be 250 lekë, or 500 lekë for a round trip, 500 lekë for vehicles with trailers, 1,000 lekë for vans and buses.

The introduction of the toll is expected to draw reactions from citizens and travelers, who have so far used the tunnel for free. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether there will be discounts or special cards for local residents.

Regarding violations in the tender for the construction of the Llogara Tunnel, SPAK has charged former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, along with former head of ARRSH, Gentian Gjyli, and Erald Elezi, former director of the Directorate of Strategic Planning and Operations. All three are accused of irregularities in the tender worth 190 million euros.
