The Transparency Board has decided to reduce the price of diesel by 13 lek per liter. Thus, in the Albanian market, 1 liter of diesel will be sold for 197 lek, down from the previous 210. Meanwhile, the price of gasoline has been reduced by two lek, specifically it will be sold for 172 lek per liter, down from the previous 174.

On April 18, 2026, the Transparency Board decided in its next meeting: โœ… The retail selling price of the byproduct diesel of SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 197 lek/liter, while the wholesale selling price shall be no more than 185 lek/liter. โœ… The retail selling price of the byproduct gasoline of SSH EN standard shall be no more than 172 lek/liter, while the wholesale selling price shall be no more than 160 lek/liter. ๐Ÿ—“ The prices set by the Board will come into force today, April 18, at 10:30 and will be valid until the next meeting of the board, where changes in selling prices will be reflected. โš ๏ธ We draw the attention of every wholesale and retail operator of petroleum byproducts to the obligation to implement this decision. ๐Ÿšซ In case of violations found by various operators, suspension of activity will be imposed. ๐Ÿ›ข The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and maintaining the principles of fair competition in the market.

CLARIFICATION: Referenced to Normative Act No. 1, dated April 3, 2026, "On an addition to law no. 61/2012, 'On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,'" as amended, which stipulates that if the retail selling price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise level applies. Based on the implementation of the methodology for calculating retail ceiling prices, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, dated April 3, 2026, and therefore the excise level will be applied in full, 100%.
