A mother of four, Fjoralba faces a difficult reality every day, striving to leave domestic violence behind and build a secure life for her children on her own. With a protection order and in the process of divorce, she receives no support from the children's father for their upbringing. The entire responsibility has fallen on her. To make ends meet, she works two jobs. Her days are divided among multiple commitments and caring for her children, who are her sole reason for persevering. "We were in a state of terror because of him. He would drink, and during arguments, the worst could happen. When I see my children unafraid to speak a word, their calm alone gives me strength," she expressed. Similar stories are not few, and many women hesitate to share them. Last year alone, out of 685 petitions for "marriage dissolution" in Durrës, 411 were filed by women. According to psychologists, behind these numbers often lie difficult stories where domestic violence and conflicts leave lasting impacts, especially on children. Many women, according to psychologist Kasa, hesitate to speak out due to fear, economic dependence, and prejudices, making it even harder to escape an abusive relationship. While facing numerous challenges every day, Fjoralba continues to work and sacrifice to give her children a better life, free from fear and uncertainty.
