At the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, PD MP Arjan Ndoja testified today as a 'victim' of the criminal offense. He was summoned for one of the factions of the case regarding the assassination attempt of November 1, 2019, reports journalist Anila Hoxha for Top Channel. He recounted everything that happened on the day of the assassination attempt, stating that he had no connection or conflict with anyone.
"In 2019, I was a prosecutor in Durrës. Apart from the anathema cast upon me by high political figures, I had no other issues. I owned a family vehicle registered in my wife's name. A month before the event, it was used by the deceased citizen Andi Maloku.
On November 1, 2019, I left home as usual at 7 a.m. and went to work with Andi Maloku. Around 12 p.m., I left work and headed to a bar named Koral, as I was invited for lunch with several people, including Aleksandër Laho.
I stayed there from 1 p.m. until about 4 p.m. We were in two cars and moved toward the Dajlan Bridge. Andi Maloku was driving because I wasn't feeling well. I was in the front seat, and Aleksandër Laho was in the back. He had his own car but came with me to chat.
From the time I left the bar until the incident occurred, I noticed nothing suspicious. When we passed the tire shop at the start of the first kilometer of the highway up to the Shkozet Bridge, the shots began. My car was in the lane adjacent to the traffic divider. At first, I didn't realize it was gunfire. The shots weren't in bursts; they were spaced out. There were two hours of various noises and intervals of shooting. From the start of the shots until the car left the road, about 20 seconds passed. When the deceased Andi Maloku was wounded, he accelerated, and we hit one of the road barriers, ending up off the road.
When we left the road and the car stopped in a ditch, only Andi Maloku was conscious. He called his father and said, 'Dad, they shot us.' When I tried to get out of the car, I lost consciousness and don't remember anything else. Andi Maloku collapsed when he opened the door, apparently because the bullet was in his spine.
I never learned who shot us. For Andi Maloku, I sent my people to inquire about his health condition. The family knows nothing, and the deceased didn't see anything either because they didn't shoot from the side; they shot from behind.
Apart from you as the prosecution body or court decisions, no one came to meet us and tell us what happened or why they did it. I don't know the defendants in this case or the co-defendants in a related proceeding. I know Plaurent Dervishi by name because there was a proceeding in Durrës. In 2019, I spent my holidays in Shëngjin because I have a house there.
Generally, I had lunch at... and at a bar... at the Kavaja rock. Before the event, I saw nothing suspicious. Due to political attacks, I suspected that special police services might have been assigned to me because of the famous vetting, which most of you passed successfully.
I had no suspicions, Mr. Prosecutor. If I had, I wouldn't have stayed on the road for them to target me. When I saw Erjol Halilej in court, I remembered seeing him in Durrës. No one came to meet me, but I know that 3-4 people went to meet Andi's family. But Andi's father knows better; you also have him as a witness. No one brought me any messages. By chance, at the Durrës court, I met Eriol Halilaj's uncle. He said he wanted to come meet me. I asked why he didn't come, and he said, 'But my nephew.' I said, 'What do you know about your nephew?'
I know Dor Shaba, but he didn't bring me any messages. I have no property in the Lalëz Bay area. I don't know Vullent Muça, but if it's about Vullnet Muharrem, the brother of Pëllumb Muharrem, I know him.
No one else has ever traveled in my car except on that day. We had meetings, but I had no business connections with him. I know Halit Valteri but never met him regarding the event. I know that Andi Maloku's father gave him a CD to transmit footage of the car found in Shkafan.
When I went to work, I met Basri Mece completely by chance. I told Basri that I had received information that this event was carried out by Plaurent Dervishi and that his son might have been aware. I told him to get his son out of Albania until the circumstances are clarified. I said, 'When I form my conviction about this matter, I'll tell you so you can take your measures.' I am still here today because I owe no one anything." / Top Channel
