A well-known Italian lawyer has been charged by the Prosecutor's Office for allegedly engaging in criminal activity as a mediator for the Albanian mafia in drug trafficking and other illegal operations. The suspected lawyer is Daniela Paccoi, who is currently being processed while free. She is accused of acting as a mediator between the leaders of the Albanian organization and her client, who was arrested last January with 65 kilograms of cocaine. According to reports, she relayed messages from Albania to prison and vice versa, and ensured that the man did not reveal the identity of his accomplices, even organizing a fake drug discovery—specifically contraband smuggled across the Adriatic—to simulate his willingness to cooperate with investigators. The Perugia Prosecutor's Office suspects that lawyer Daniela Paccoi, who has been served a notice of the conclusion of the investigation, plays an integral role within a large international criminal organization. The lawyer is accused of "conspiracy to traffic narcotics," "incitement to make false statements," and "drug trafficking." The case is being investigated under the coordination of Deputy Prosecutor of Perugia, Gennaro Iannarone, along with two other individuals: an Albanian, believed by investigators to be the courier and treasurer of the organization in Italy, and Matteo Coresi. Businessman Coresi is the brother of Gianpaolo, who was defended by lawyer Paccoi and arrested last January with 65 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the false bottom of his car and inside his pizzeria in Foligno. The Albanian leaders of the organization, through the criminal lawyer whom they regularly paid fees, sent him money and messages, promising solutions to receive less harsh treatment from the justice system. Precisely for this purpose, according to documents, the three suspects had organized the transport of two kilograms of drugs, which were then hidden in a manhole on land owned by the arrested man's family in Casenove, Foligno. Coresi, who is set to appear before judges on May 7 for a shortened trial, pretended to cooperate with investigators and then asked the Financial Police to find this hidden location, even providing a detailed map of the site. / Top Channel
