Italian media have published images of the tunnel used by the group of robbers that shook Naples yesterday, breaking into a branch of Crédit Agricole bank in Piazza Medaglie d’Oro, and holding 25 people hostage as they took money from the vaults. A wide investigation and search operations to find the gang of robbers are being carried out by the Naples prosecutor's office. The robbers targeted the safety deposit boxes stored in the bank's vault, stealing an as yet undetermined amount of cash, and then left through the sewer system, disappearing without a trace through a hole in the floor. The investigation is now focusing underground, with the help of technicians and the municipal service of Naples, who are responsible for water and sewer services. There, an electric generator and other tools, including buckets and shovels, were found in the sewer system beneath the bank. Meanwhile, some individuals with accounts at Crédit Agricole bank went to the branch on Thursday evening and Friday morning to find out if their assets were among those stolen from the broken boxes.
