The renowned painter Skënder Kamberi has passed away at the age of 87. He has been described as one of the most distinguished "pens" of Albanian visual art. "His departure marks a great loss for national culture, for the history of Albanian painting, and for all those who knew and appreciated his art," expressed Minister of Culture Blendi Gonxhja through a post conveying condolences to the artist's family, friends, and colleagues. With an extraordinary creativity spanning over 1,400 works, he left behind a rich legacy that includes monumental compositions, portraits, landscapes, and works with a rare expressive force. "In every period of his creativity, from socialist realism to the freer expressions after the '90s, Kamberi managed to preserve artistic integrity and challenge the boundaries of time, giving Albanian art new dimensions. In this difficult moment, I extend my most sincere condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and the entire artistic community. His memory and work will remain alive and inspiring for generations to come. Rest in peace, Master," writes the minister. Some of Kamberi's works, mainly compositions, are now held in the collection of the National Gallery of Arts in Tirana, while many others have crossed borders with exhibitions in various countries around the world.
