Police today arrested three family members in Malësi e Madhe and declared a fourth wanted. They were arrested after cultivating narcotic plants, cannabis. As part of this, a considerable number of suspected cannabis seedlings, cultivated on polystyrene platforms, were destroyed. Meanwhile, a portion of them was seized by the investigative group as material evidence. Criminal proceedings have also been initiated against two other individuals. Police are investigating further into the case. Intensive controls in the territory to prevent and strike at the preparatory stage of attempts to cultivate narcotic plants. The police operation codenamed "Phase One" has been finalized. A considerable number of suspected cannabis seedlings, cultivated on polystyrene platforms, were destroyed. Three citizens were arrested, criminal proceedings were initiated against two others, and one was declared wanted. In implementation of measures taken within the operational plan to prevent and strike at the initial stage of attempts to cultivate narcotic plants, and based on information secured by police intelligence that in the villages of Bajzë and Gruemirë Çezmë some individuals had planted cannabis seeds on polystyrene platforms, the specialized services of the Shkodër Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Malësi e Madhe Police Commissariat and supported by the Special Operational Forces and "Shqiponja," organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Phase One." As a result of the operation, in the village of Bajzë, a considerable number of suspected cannabis seedlings, cultivated on polystyrene platforms with the aim of planting them in soil, were documented. The platforms with seedlings were destroyed during the operation, while a portion of them was seized by the investigative group as material evidence. As suspected perpetrators of this criminal activity, the following citizens were arrested: E. Q., 29 years old, B. Q., 23 years old, and A. Q., 26 years old (family members), all three residents of Bajzë village. Continuing the operation, in the village of Gruemirë Çezmë, several other polystyrene platforms were found in a warehouse, on which suspected cannabis seedlings and narcotic seeds were cultivated. For this case, citizen B. R., 52 years old, a resident of Gruemirë Çezmë village, was declared wanted, and criminal proceedings were initiated against citizens E. R., 41 years old, and Z. R., 75 years old, residents of this village. Work continues to apprehend citizen B. R., as well as to identify and bring to criminal responsibility other citizens who may be implicated in these cases. The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Shkodër First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction for further action.
