A United Airlines flight from Chicago to New York was forced to make an emergency landing in Pittsburgh after a repeated signal in the cockpit raised fears of a bomb, leading to the evacuation of the aircraft. Business Insider reports that passengers were evacuated from the plane using emergency slides, as seen in a video circulating online. According to the report, about halfway through the flight, the plane made a sudden turn south and changed course toward Pittsburgh, as shown by Flightradar24 data. In an audio clip posted by LiveATC.net, a pilot can be heard informing air traffic control about the incident. "We have a problem up here. We're getting a series of signals. We need to start treating this as a potential bomb," the pilot is heard saying. The pilot then stated that the signal repeated every second, according to the cockpit recording. In a statement posted on Platform X, the FBI office in Pittsburgh said all passengers and crew "safely evacuated the aircraft." It also noted that FBI special agents and bomb disposal technicians were on site and coordinating with local authorities. The Allegheny County Sheriff's Department said the bomb squad checked the plane with the help of specially trained dogs but found no suspicious objects. United Airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that the flight was diverted due to a potential safety concern for passengers.
