Emin Kokalari, the person accused of publishing the news about HIV/AIDS infections in the municipality of Gjirokastër, spoke today for "Shqipëria Live". Kokalari explained that he was not the source of the news, but in fact it was journalist Besir Çollaku, who had declared that a municipality in the south of the country had become a hotspot for this disease. Kokalari said he only redistributed the news, raising questions since earlier in the city of Gjirokastër there were rumors circulating about this matter. "There has been a misunderstanding. I am not the source of the news; the news was released by Besir Çollaku. When I read it, I was concerned because of my activity as a dentist, but also as a citizen. I redistributed the news from the licensed journalist. Then the news spread that I had released it. First, I am not a journalist; I am a dentist. I am not educated in journalism. This is damaging to the image of the media as well because they did not verify the information. I had heard the news before because Gjirokastër is a big city, and I raised a public question asking if there was any reaction to this circulating news. I published Besir Çollaku's news and said that I had information, but now that a journalist publishes it, do you believe it? So I did not accuse anyone but simply raised a question. I have had no communication with the municipality. I learned about the criminal complaint from the media that reported it, and then I went to the police. There I gave my statement. I contacted journalist Çollaku personally and asked him if it was true; his answer was yes. I would never take pleasure if this thing were true. I have no patron and take orders from no one. My actions are my own; I am not part of any group, whether political or something else. I am not at all interested in what happens with them. I am interested in my life and the community around me. I have no enemies; I have no political colors." - he said.
