This marathon race is also the Bosnia and Herzegovina Marathon Championship. In addition to this event, today also features the NUTRINOvih21K half-marathon and the Osman Junuzović 5K Memorial Race powered by FINE FOOD.
Organizers from the association "Dečki u plavom" previously stated that 2,600 competitors from 47 countries are expected on the streets of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, setting a new record in both the number of participants and the number of countries represented.
In the areas of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, partial traffic suspensions will be in effect from 8:00 AM until 1:15 PM.
On the section passing through the municipality of East Ilidža, traffic will alternate using one lane from 9:30 AM to 12:15 PM.
The race started at Wilson's Promenade near the Ars Aevi Bridge and continued across the Suada and Olga Bridge, Grbavica, Ivica Osim Boulevard, the AS roundabout, Topal Osman Pasha – Wilson's Promenade – Vrbanja – Zmaja od Bosne – Meša Selimović Boulevard – Džemal Bijedić Street – Ilidža underpass – Blažuj Road – Vrelo Bosne – Stojčevac – Velika Aleja – Hrasnička Road – Put Famosa – 4. Augusta – Druge Sarajevske Brigade – Vasilija Grđića – Kurt Schork – Vahide Maglajlić – Mimar Sinan Boulevard – Plavi Put – Želimir Vidović Kelija – Sheikh Husein Bakri Gazaza – Safeta Hadžića – Ivica Osim Boulevard, the AS roundabout, Topal Osman Pasha – Wilson's Promenade.
The safety of participants is ensured by nearly 250 stewards, as well as members of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Sarajevo Mountain Rescue Service.
"This event represents more than a sports competition. It promotes a healthy lifestyle and the positive values that we should all nurture together," the organizers from the "Dečki u plavom" association stated.
