Police officers in Živinice are currently working in substandard facilities, and the administrative center is also not at a satisfactory level. However, this should change in the next 20 months, following the construction of a new building, for which work officially began today.
"In April 2023, land worth 900,000 KM was purchased, and the building to be constructed is planned with dimensions of 30 by 30 square meters, including a basement, a ground floor, and one floor. It will house the police administration, police station, Criminal Police Department, and an administrative hall," said Nedžad Bistrić, Minister of Interior of Tuzla Canton, adding:
"The secured amount of funds is 6.5 million KM, but during the auction, the contractor reduced the price by 12 percent, bringing the total investment to 5.7 million KM."
The building currently housing the Živinice police was constructed in the post-World War II period, and renovation is not feasible. The new facility will also feature a modern architectural design.
"The current building where police officers operate does not meet standards or capacity needs. The construction of the new building will create better working conditions for officers, while also improving the quality of services provided to citizens," said Began Muhić, Mayor of Živinice.
Funding for the new building has been secured from the cantonal budget and through a loan taken by the Government of Tuzla Canton.
"This is the third phase of our policies regarding security, as we began our mandate with the material and technical strengthening of the Police Administration's capacities, followed by filling police ranks, and now the final phase concerns spatial capacities," stated Irfan Halilagić, Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton.
Approximately 250 people are employed in the Živinice Police Administration, including police officers, civil servants, and employees.
