As he stated in the video, Orbán will return the mandate to Fidesz and focus on reorganizing the party, which has just suffered a massive defeat at the hands of the opposition party Tisza. Thus, for the first time in 36 years, Orbán will be without a formal position in Hungarian politics. He served as prime minister twice, from 1998 to 2002 and from 2010 to 2026, while for the remaining period from 1990 to the present, he was a member of parliament. However, as was also stated after the defeat, Orbán will remain the president of Fidesz, a party that will operate from the opposition for at least four years. Following Orbán's announcement, a theory emerged that he would leave Hungary and move to the United States, where some of his family members already live. Nevertheless, there are no indications that he will relocate from Hungary.
