On behalf of the host, attendees were greeted by Ibrahim Spahić, Director of the Cultural Forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina and President of the Program Council of the Sarajevo Book Fair.
The roundtable was opened by H.E. Maria Molina Álvarez de Toledo, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the country of honor at the Fair, emphasizing the importance of the "Path of the Book" from author to reader, as well as the significance of translation and collaboration among authors, publishers, and relevant institutions.
Professor Emeritus Nikolaos Karapidakis (Ionian University) spoke about the importance of archives and the memory of civilizations in the context of books and the written word.
Aleksandra Stojković (University of Banja Luka) presented the publishing activities of the University of Banja Luka.
Kašmir Huseinović (Zagreb), author and publisher, discussed the significance of fairy tales and their transmission across generations.
Dr. Aleksandra Trtovac (University Library "Svetozar Marković," Belgrade) spoke on the evolution of libraries in the digital age.
Dr. Amila Akagić (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Sarajevo) addressed the transformation of the book from the analog to the digital age and the role of artificial intelligence.
Dr. Nataša Dakić (University Library "Svetozar Marković," Belgrade) discussed the future of libraries through innovation and technology.
Šuhreta Dumenic (Opatija) spoke about books as bridges between cultures.
Zorica Stablović Bulajić (Publishing House Hera Edu) discussed the importance of literary festivals and connecting publishers.
In his closing remarks, Ibrahim Spahić highlighted the high-quality and substantive discussion and announced that at the next, fifth international roundtable, a publication will be presented, in collaboration with UNESCO, featuring presentations from all previous participants. He thanked the participants and the audience, who also followed the event via the digital platforms of the Skenderija Center.
