Mohamed Salah left the pitch injured at Anfield but was able to walk unaided, acknowledging all stands with applause as he exited. The Egyptian arrived at Liverpool in 2017 and has won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Community Shield with the club.
Salah has scored 257 goals in 435 appearances for Liverpool, ranking third on the club's all-time scoring list behind Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285). Manager Arne Slot believes the possibility that this could have been the Egyptian's final match at Anfield influenced his reaction during the substitution.
"Honestly, yes, judging by the way he left, it crossed his mind because there are only a few weeks left, but we hope he will play for us again," Slot told Sky Sports. He added that medical tests will follow, after which a recovery prognosis will be provided.
Any serious issue would likely prevent him from playing in Liverpool's final match against Manchester United at Old Trafford next Sunday, a team against which he has already scored 16 goals in 18 appearances. After that, Liverpool hosts Chelsea on May 9, visits Aston Villa on May 17, and ends the season with a match against Brentford.
