Although she has been subjected to comments about her body since the beginning of her career, the 32-year-old singer emphasizes that the situation has not changed even today, despite her immense popularity.
Trainor became world-famous as a teenager after releasing the hit "All About That Bass" at the age of 19 in 2014. Although the song became a global hit, the singer faced criticism at the time for lyrics accused of "fat-shaming thin people."
"I didn't like that everyone was talking about my body and that I had to explain how I felt about other people's bodies," the singer stated. She added that the confident lyrics did not reflect her true state and admitted: "I actually thought, 'Those are my insecurities, I wish I really felt the way the lyrics say,'" she said.
In recent years, Meghan has once again found herself in the spotlight, this time due to weight loss and her decision to get breast implants after three childbirths. These changes have sparked a flood of negative comments, but the singer emphasizes that she has never felt better.
"I had my breasts operated on because it was awful to see them after childbirth. I didn't like them, so I decided to get implants, and I've never felt better," she revealed.
Meghan added that psychotherapy helps her cope with negative comments: "My therapist often tells me, 'Why are you giving those strangers so much power?' And I reply, 'Yuck, I don't like that.'"
After her second pregnancy, the singer was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and elevated levels of thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibodies. These health issues motivated her to make drastic lifestyle changes. She eliminated gluten, dairy products, and alcohol from her diet, hired a personal trainer, and began taking the weight-loss drug Mounjaro. Over the past five years, Meghan has lost about 27 kilograms, which has sparked anger among some of her fans, who accused her of betraying the body acceptance message from her most famous song.
The singer's new appearance triggered an avalanche of negative comments online.
"I recently started posting my photos, as always. But for some reason, a debate broke out and everyone got angry. They wrote to me: 'Yuck, I don't recognize you, you look like a walking nose.' They were really crazy, mean things," she said.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Meghan added that she tries not to let such comments affect her. "I take care of myself. I have to find a way not to let those things get to me," she concluded.
