Kloss told Page Six that it's difficult to talk about something that many people consider trivial. After actress Ruby Rose made allegations of sexual assault against Perry, Kloss said he felt it was important to be brave and clarify himself. "The world can judge me. Perry and I connected on set in Santa Barbara," he said. He claimed that two years later, he was invited to a birthday party for Johnny Wujek, the singer's longtime costume designer and stylist. Kloss said Perry greeted him excitedly at the entrance. While introducing his friend to the singer, Perry allegedly pulled down his pants and underwear, exposing his genitals. "Can you imagine how pathetic I felt? At that moment, I was terrified, and Perry just laughed. I want to clear up the confusion because some people think it's a joke if you pull someone's pants down at a party. Just pulling down my pants completely humiliated me," he said. Additionally, Page Six had access to correspondence that confirms Kloss's claims, but when he first decided to speak out, the singer's costume designer Wujek denied his allegations. "This is complete nonsense. Katy would never do something like that," Wujek previously stated. Kloss also admitted that he might have been in love with Perry at the time, which made the alleged incident confusing for him. "It's a bit strange when you're in love with someone, and that person touches you or does something to youโ€”sometimes in my generation, it can be interpreted as flirting. I admit that at first, I thought she really liked me, but my brain only realized what was going on after processing the whole situation," he said. He explained that he reached a breaking point after fans told him for years how lucky and blessed he was that such a big star had given him an opportunity. "The person I should be grateful to devalued me and humiliated me in the worst possible way in front of her closest associates. Why should I be grateful for that? My intention was not to punish Perry, but to protect my mental health," he stated. He admitted that he had hoped Perry might respond and offer an apology, but that never happened. The singer responded to numerous allegations of unwanted touching in an interview with The Guardian in August 2020. A few days after Kloss spoke out, Russian TV host Tina Kandelaki claimed that Perry tried to kiss her without consent at a party. The singer also faced criticism for kissing a contestant on the show "American Idol" who said he had never been kissed before. Perry responded to the allegations, saying: "I think we live in a world where anyone can say anything. I don't want to say 'guilty until proven innocent,' but there's no control or verification. I don't want to contribute to the noise; I want to contribute to the truth. I don't comment on everything said about me because if I engaged in that, my whole life would be reduced to confirming and denying," she said. For context, actress Ruby Rose earlier this month accused Katy Perry of sexual assault at a nightclub in Melbourne, Australia, in 2010. A spokesperson for Katy Perry called these allegations false and dangerous, stating that Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public accusations. Due to all the allegations, an investigation into Perry has been launched in Australia.
