His colleague Brad Mackay revealed that university staff made an effort to ensure Prince William had as normal an experience as possible. MacKay is now a professor at the university, but he fondly remembers his encounter with Prince William. "There were times when he could just walk around like any other student. The other students at the university simply allowed him to be one of their peers," Professor MacKay said. Additionally, the University of St Andrews became a place where many students met their future spouses. This was confirmed by student couple Callum and Becky, who shared their thoughts on how St Andrews is a romantic place. "There's a common joke that you'll probably meet your spouse if you come to St Andrews as a student," said Professor Charles Warren, who taught geography to Prince William. Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton are celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary this month, having met while both were studying art history. When they first met, Princess Kate felt awkward, but they soon became friends and later a couple. Princess Kate auditioned for the "Don't Walk" fashion show, organized by students to raise money for charity. Prince William was one of more than 200 people watching her walk down the runway. The sheer lace dress she wore has since become famous. Prince William decided to focus on studying geography, while Princess Kate stuck with art history. Both graduated with top honors. "I'd like to think that the impact of their time here helped shape people into who they are today. Their presence here brings a certain amount of publicity to the university. This university is a true destination for students from the United Kingdom and around the world," MacKay said.
