The design of the Denza Z model is the work of Wolfgang Egger, former chief designer of Audi, who now shapes the visual identity of BYD's premium brand. The convertible features a four-seat layout and a folding soft top that compactly stows away in the trunk. Compared to the 2025 concept, the production version has become more restrained—designers have abandoned the massive rear spoiler in favor of clean lines but added functional vents on the hood. These channels are not decorative; they provide the necessary downforce at high speeds, creating an effect the company poetically calls "flight above the ground." The look is completed by long doors with hidden handles, massive aluminum alloy wheels, and sporty brake calipers, hinting at serious potential under the accelerator pedal. The technical side of the Denza Z impresses even by modern electric vehicle standards. The car is built on the E3 "Yi Sanfang" platform with all-wheel drive, where the total power output of the drivetrain exceeds 1,000 hp. This allows the convertible to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2 seconds. To prevent this power from turning the drive into a battle with the car, engineers have implemented several "smart" systems, including: Interestingly, the Denza brand has decided to change the traditional strategy of Chinese brands. The world premiere of the model will take place in July at the renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed. International markets will have priority in deliveries, with sales in China itself starting only afterward. Additionally, the company has confirmed plans for an official run at the Nürburgring. Tests on the Nordschleife have been conducted throughout the past year, and it will soon be known whether the Chinese convertible can set a new record for mass-produced electric cars.
