The rain that began falling in the Russian capital on the night of April 26 quickly turned into sleet and snow. By morning, roads, vehicles, and trees were covered in a white blanket. Authorities had earlier issued a "yellow" weather alert, warning of the risk of heavy precipitation and the accumulation of heavy, wet snow. According to meteorologists' forecasts, snow will continue to fall in Moscow until the evening of April 28.
In response to the severe weather conditions, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations urged citizens to park their vehicles in safe locations and to avoid moving near unstable structures and billboards.
City transport authorities warned of possible temporary changes to tram schedules. A special warning was issued to drivers who have already fitted summer tires on their vehicles, advising them not to get behind the wheel and instead use public city transport.
The unusual spring snow has already caused significant problems across the multimillion-strong city. In the Moskvorechye-Saburovo district, residents report that strong winds and heavy snow have uprooted two trees on Kantemirovskaya Street, damaging parked cars and completely blocking the roadway. Local residents say drivers were forced to bypass the obstacles by driving over curbs, risking further damage to their vehicles.
Similar incidents were recorded in the Zyuzino district, where a tree fell on a parked car on Sivashskaya Street. Citizens are now calling for an urgent response from utility services to remove the fallen trees and normalize traffic.
