Ahead of the FA Cup semi-final clash with Southampton, the Citizens' manager expressed concerns about the thick grass at Wembley and the risk of injuries that could prematurely end the season for some of his key players, reports Goal.com.
The Catalan tactician has raised the alarm over his team's physical condition ahead of the semi-final against Southampton at Wembley. Guardiola confirmed that the congested schedule, which followed an important match against Arsenal, has left his players emotionally and physically drained.
With a relentless pace of matches every three days, fatigue has become palpable within the dressing room. The manager is particularly cautious about the trip to London and the conditions at the national stadium, suggesting that the physical demands at the end of the season are pushing his players to their limits.
Speaking to the media, Guardiola detailed the toll that recent matches have taken on his players. He emphasized that the emotional weight of the title race, combined with long journeys, has created an atmosphere of exhaustion at the Etihad.
"The match against Arsenal was emotionally very demanding, which is normal," Guardiola explained. "Three days later, Burnley, and three days after that, Southampton. My players were terribly, terribly tired. Then the train journey, three hours from here to the hotel. The grass at Wembley is always thick. There are still many thoughts running through my mind."
