Since Croatia's independence, the Zagreb club has won a total of 26 championship titles. If Dinamo's titles from former states are included, the club states that it now has a total of 36 championship titles in its history. This also marks the return of the Croatian championship title to Zagreb, as Rijeka ended Dinamo's seven-year trophy streak last season. Dinamo was also aided by today's draw between Rijeka and Hajduk, which eliminated Split's club from even theoretical chances of catching up to the Zagreb club. Rijeka was the stronger opponent in this match against a nearly harmless Hajduk, which mostly focused on counterattacks. Incidentally, three Bosnian-Herzegovinian internationals played for Rijeka from the first minute: Martin Zlomisliฤ‡, Stjepan Radeljiฤ‡, and Amer Gojak.
